Dutch population calls for more education on the risks of “the silent killer” – high blood pressure
New European study shows almost half the Dutch population falsely believes high blood pressure can be cured.
Switzerland, 12 September 2011 – High blood pressure or hypertension is the biggest single risk factor for heart disease and stroke and currently affects 1.5 billion people worldwide . According to a new study commissioned by Kaz Europe, the manufacturer of Braun blood pressure monitors under a license to the ‘Braun’ trademark, the Dutch population believes more should be done to educate them about the risks associated with high blood pressure. Most of the Dutch people surveyed believe they are not at risk of hypertension since there are no obvious symptoms and almost half falsely believe high blood pressure can be cured.
